Reading fell by the wayside during the 5 1/2 years I was a lawyer and the 3 years of law school before that. But I absolutely love to read – I can say that now that reading is cool as an adult instead of dorky as a kid – and one of the things I was most excited about on this trip was the chance to read again. Lots of down time and lots of travel days means lots of reading. Having the Kindle is super awesome for long term travel, because I’m picky about what I read and the free book exchanges at hostels just don’t cut it. The only downside is the expense of books.
I’m always looking for book ideas, so if you have any to share, please leave a comment below. As you can see, I like books that didn’t happen in the far away past and that either teach me something new or have some relevance to my life. I’m not afraid to read fluff, but I like something with more substance better. I’m a sucker for memoirs, but they’ve got to be written by a good writer. I wanted to share the books I’ve read in case you’re looking for an idea. 44 books and counting!
My rating system is pretty basic. 5 equals this book is awesome and you should read it. 4 is this book is pretty good but not great. 3 means this book kept me entertained all the way through, or has some other redeeming value, but something is lacking. 2 means, eh. 1 means I wish I could get those moments of my life back. Happy reading!
In the interest of full disclosure, if you buy something on Amazon through one of the above links, they’ll give me a tiny bit of money. Which, in turn, I’ll use to buy more books that I will share here.
